Through innovation, strong partnerships and responsible business practices, we strive for construction excellence while creating long-term value for our stakeholders and the environment.

Environmental

Innovation guides how we build. By applying evolving technologies and sustainable construction practices, we seek to reduce our environmental footprint and create healthier, greener spaces for future generations.

Social

Our success is built on people and partnerships. We listen to our customers, support the well-being and development of our employees, collaborate with our suppliers and contribute meaningfully to the communities in which we operate.

Governance

Trust underpins the way we conduct business. We uphold integrity, quality and transparency through accountable leadership, sound risk management, stakeholder engagement and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Global and national agenda

Our commitments to the global and national sustainability agenda

Epicon supports the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and relevant national priorities, including the Malaysia Plan, National Energy Policy 2022–2040 and National Energy Transition Roadmap. Through our business activities and sustainability initiatives, we contribute to 14 of the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

SDG 2 · Zero hunger

Supported sustainable food cultivation by planting 40 papaya trees and providing an automatic irrigation system through the Fruit Trees Farming programme.

SDG 3 · Good health and well-being

Maintained zero work-related fatalities and zero lost-time injuries across 1,952,719 man-hours worked, while providing health and safety training to 35 employees.

SDG 4 · Quality education

Delivered 502 training hours to 68 employees and provided internship opportunities to support professional development and youth employability.

SDG 5 · Gender equality

Promoted merit-based employment, equal opportunity and parental support, while achieving 50% female representation on the Board.

SDG 6 · Clean water and sanitation

Harvested 34,358 m³ of rainwater, equivalent to approximately 44% of total water consumption, while monitoring site effluent to protect surrounding water resources.

SDG 7 · Affordable and clean energy

Deployed solar-powered spotlights at selected project sites and strengthened energy monitoring to support more efficient and responsible energy use.

SDG 8 · Decent work and economic growth

Maintained a fully local workforce and directed 100% of procurement and subcontracting expenditure to local suppliers while upholding fair labour and workplace safety standards.

SDG 9 · Industry, innovation and infrastructure

Adopted Industrialised Building System solutions, reusable aluminium formwork and fibreglass reinforcement to improve construction efficiency, quality and resource performance.

SDG 11 · Sustainable cities and communities

Enhanced urban green spaces through the planting of 169 trees and supported community resilience through assistance for residents affected by the Putra Heights incident.

SDG 12 · Responsible consumption and production

Promoted material efficiency through IBS construction, reusable and recyclable formwork, waste segregation, 3R practices and efforts to eliminate single-use plastics at the head office.

SDG 13 · Climate action

Measured Scope 1, Scope 2 and selected Scope 3 emissions, introduced a public-transport shuttle service and began preparing for a formal Climate Risk Assessment.

SDG 15 · Life on land

Planted 209 trees and strengthened biodiversity management through responsible site controls, vegetation preservation and reference to IUCN conservation classifications.

SDG 16 · Peace, justice and strong institutions

Assessed 100% of operations for corruption risks and recorded zero confirmed corruption incidents, supported by Board oversight and confidential whistleblowing channels.

SDG 17 · Partnerships for the goals

Worked with environmental and community organisations, including Free Tree Society and Tabung Selangor Prihatin, to deliver biodiversity, food-security and community-relief initiatives.

Governance structure

Our sustainability governance structure

Board of Directors

Provides strategic direction and ultimate oversight of Epicon’s sustainability agenda, ensuring it supports the Group’s objectives and stakeholder interests.

Audit & Risk Management Committee

Supports the Board by overseeing sustainability governance and ensuring that sustainability-related risks and opportunities are integrated into risk management.

Sustainability Steering Committee

Leads the development and implementation of Epicon’s sustainability strategies, policies, initiatives and targets while monitoring overall performance and disclosures. Chaired by the CEO; meets at least twice a year.

Departments & Data Owners

Implement sustainability initiatives within their respective functions and ensure that performance data is accurately collected, verified and reported.

Environmental

Fruit Trees Farming Programme

Epicon planted 40 papaya trees and contributed an automatic irrigation system through a community food-security initiative held in conjunction with National Vegetarian Day.

Urban Nursery Activity with Free Tree Society

In FYE2025, 20 Epicon participants worked with Free Tree Society on tree planting, weed clearing and composting. A total of 169 trees, including native and vulnerable species, were planted.

Morib Beach Clean-Up

In November 2024, 21 Epicon employees took part in a three-hour beach clean-up at Morib Beach, helping to reduce coastal pollution and promote environmental awareness.

Responsible Construction Through IBS

Epicon expanded the use of ACOTEC wall panels across five active project sites, alongside reusable aluminium formwork and fibreglass reinforcement, reducing wet trades, rework and waste.

Strengthening Climate and Emissions Management

Following our inaugural Scope 1, 2 and 3 inventory in FYE2024, we expanded emissions tracking in FYE2025 to include fuel used for site operations.

Putra Heights Community Relief

Following the Putra Heights gas pipeline fire in April 2025, Epicon contributed RM10,000 to Tabung Selangor Prihatin to support affected residents and community recovery.

Community Outreach at Good Samaritan Home

Epicon contributed daily essentials and donations to children at Good Samaritan Home, providing practical support for their immediate needs and well-being.
